Gloomdrill, test version for Windows

1. Unpack the whole zip (right click, Extract All). Keep the "client" folder next to Gloomdrill.exe.
2. Start Gloomdrill.exe. A small window opens: keep it open while you play, close it to quit.
The game opens in your web browser.
Windows may say "Windows protected your PC", because this test version isn't signed:
click More info, then Run anyway.
3. Choose Host a game, Join a game, or Play with a bot partner.

Host: the game checks the Windows firewall and offers to let other players in (Windows asks
for administrator rights; choose Yes). If that can't be done, the Host screen says what to do.
Then start an expedition: your four-letter code shows at the top of the screen.

No one to play with? Play with a bot partner: a bot plays the other character with you, on
this computer only. The game is made for two people, though: it's most fun with a friend.

Playing together works on a local network only: both computers on the same Wi-Fi or cable
network. It does not work over the internet. Windows and Mac players can play together.

Join: type the host's code. If the game can't find it, type the host's address instead (the
host sees it on the Host screen).

Problems joining? Usually the host's firewall: the Host screen shows how to fix it. Some
networks (guest Wi-Fi, some offices) keep computers apart: try a home network or a cable.

Controls: Esc opens the menu; the Controls tab lists every key (and lets you change them).

Your saves: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Gloomdrill
